Celebrating independence day at Palayamkottai Central Prison on 15th August 2014. Sounds irony? No not at all! Many of us are locked inside prison mentally! We have divided on the basis of ourselves by identities.. Identity of language, colour, races, resources, cultures, caste, religion… Nation state with its political influence has strongly created another identity on which even most ghastly crimes and a false state of freedom is presented! I feel it’s time we ask the question as a human… When over lakhs of migrant affected by war plagues unemployment.. Has left them to be termed illegal! Can we see the world border less? Can we see the world without any borders?

On behalf of GNE convey our heartfelt gratitude for our Chennai Donor and Udhavum Ullangal for helping us to serve afternoon full course meals for 1272 inmates and to the prison staffs.   We also sincerely thanking all prison officials who showed enormous support for this event. On behalf of all the inmates a big thanks to Mr.Sankar Mahadevn Founder of Udhavum Ullangal for this special lunch provided at this central prison.
