On the eve of 67th Independence day celebration at Palayamkottai Central Prison by Global Network for Equality, Play Therapy Materials were gifted to Psychiatric ill Inmates.

The program has begun by national flag hoisting by Dr.Sathya Jegannathan, Chief Pediatrician at Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital with presence of Mr.K.Kanagaraj, Superintendent of Palayamkottai Central Prison and his colleagues, Additional Superintendent, Jailors, Warders and Inmates. A colorful flag pole was decorated near prison school premises. All of us respected national flag and remembered our Freedom fighters.

Later we all moved to Meditation central hall where the stage were arranged nicely for independence day celebration. Followed by National anthem we stood for remembering and respecting our national freedom fighters.

Guest of Honor Dr.Sathya Jegannathan Chief Pediatrician, Tirunelveli Medical Collage Hospital is delivering speech on her own parent’s prison life experience during the freedom fight as a Sarvodhaya Couple and Freedom fighters.She has also explained what has motivated her to become a doctor (pediatrician) Although she got rare opportunity to live under parental care because her parents spent time in prison as freedom fighters. She never worried about the social stigma showed to her at her childhood due to her parents prison life. Her parents advised her to study well to help the sick people as a doctor. This mantra made her to become a doctor.

Mr.K.Kanagaraj, Superintendent of Palayamkottai Central Prison is delivering speech on the eve independence day celebration. He also urged all inmates to try to become national assets by remembering our national leaders how much their contributions which made us to live prosperity


Mr.K.R.Raja, Medical & Psychiatric Social Worker from GNE, has stressed upon the point where the freedom lies for a person. Freedom is all about internal, not an external thing – Freedom lies on well thinking of a person and his / her good behavior. This is a message for everyone of us to understand on this eve of independence day celebration.
